Behind the Brand
I’m Swati, the founder of Bichhavans, and this brand began with a feeling I couldn’t ignore.
One Diwali, while looking for bedsheets for our home, I realized something deeply unsettling. Surrounded by options, I still couldn’t find a single bedsheet that felt truly Indian something ethnic, handcrafted, and rooted in the homes we grew up in. That absence stayed with me. Our homes carried Indian values, memories, and rituals, yet our everyday linen didn’t reflect that at all.
The name Bichhavans comes from my childhood. I grew up hearing my grandmother use this word as she lovingly cared for bedsheets, mats, and household linen. That warmth, that respect for everyday textiles, is what I wanted to bring back.
As a fashion designer and a mother of two, comfort became non-negotiable for me. Sleep, skin-friendly fabrics, and natural materials suddenly mattered more than trends. I wanted linen that breathed, felt gentle, and could be used every single day without compromise.
Bichhavans was born from that need to create handcrafted, organic cotton linen that carries Indian art, supports artisans, and brings comfort back to the heart of our homes.
